Modern Slavery Statement
Financial year ending 31st March 2025
End of Life Doula UK is committed to preventing all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, and exploitation in any part of its operations. As a not-for-profit organisation, we believe that everyone has the right to work freely, without coercion or exploitation, and to be treated with dignity and respect.
Our Mission and Values
End of Life Doula UK supports individuals at the end of life and those important to them by providing trained doulas who offer emotional, practical, and spiritual support. Our values of compassion, person-centredness, inclusion, community and collaboration underpin all of our activities, and we are equally committed to upholding these values within our organisation and throughout our collaborations and contracts with other organisations and individuals.
Our Commitment to Addressing Modern Slavery
Although the risk of modern slavery within our organisation is low, we recognise that all businesses have a responsibility to take proactive measures. To this end, End of Life Doula UK is dedicated to ensuring that our practices, and those of our partners, align with our stance against modern slavery. Our approach includes:
- Policies and Procedures
We ensure that our policies and procedures emphasise our zero-tolerance stance toward modern slavery wherever relevant. These policies apply to all staff, volunteers, and contractors who are expected to adhere to our ethical standards - Risk Assessment
We assess the potential risks related to modern slavery in our operations and work with partners. We recognise that modern slavery and human trafficking can and do occur in any employment sector including health and social care. Both people that we are supporting, and others who we encounter through our work as end of life doulas, may be victims of modern slavery or human trafficking. As a health and social care organisation we have a role in identifying victims and raising concerns. - Due Diligence
End of Life Doula UK conducts appropriate due diligence when entering into new partnerships or contracts. We ensure that our suppliers, contractors, and other partners share our commitment to human rights, labour standards, and anti-exploitation practices. - Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery within our organisation and community of practice. We include information on identifying the signs of modern slavery and how to report any concerns in our guidance which is available to all members, volunteers and employees. - Reporting and Whistleblowing
We encourage anyone within our organisation or external partners to raise concerns about any instance of modern slavery or exploitation. We encourage the use of our whistleblowing procedure that allows individuals to report issues in confidence.
Future Steps
End of Life Doula UK will continue to review and improve our procedures to safeguard against modern slavery on an annual basis. We will work collaboratively with other organisations, suppliers, and partners to strengthen our anti-slavery measures and ensure we remain vigilant and proactive in addressing any risks.
This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our organisation’s modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31st March 2025.
