Aly Dickinson

Hi I’m Aly and I trained in 2013 and have been an End of Life Doula since
then.  It is the most fulfilling work I have ever done – to support an
individual and those close to them at end of life. I am so very grateful to
everyone who has asked me to be alongside them.  I will do whatever is
needed and can provide practical support including personal care and
household tasks together with emotional support (and spiritual support if
requested).   I will step in to fill any gaps (non medical) that cannot be
fulfilled by health and social care professionals and provide respite for
informal Carers.  I am well versed in Advance Planning for End of Life too –
Lasting Power of Attorney, Advance Decisions to Refuse Treatment, Funeral
Planning etc.   The person and the people close to them are always at the
very centre of what I do and I will advocate on their behalf and be a
consistent presence to ensure wishes and preferences are respected.
Alongside my one on one work I host Death Cafes and Bereavement Cafes in
Exeter and facilitate Community Workshops on Death and Dying and Planning
for End of Life.  A trusting relationship is key to the work so I would
always have an initial conversation face to face or on the telephone to see
if I am the person you believe could be helpful.  I am based in East Devon
and am very flexible about travelling.
