I am an end of life doula and completed my diploma in the Living Well Dying Well Person-Centred Approach to Death and Dying in 2022. I am a qualified counsellor and have a special interest in loss and bereavement and have practiced as a bereavement counsellor for over 30 years.
I come from Belfast and now live in Belsize Park in North London, close to my family and many grandchildren.
At present, I work in a care home, chatting to residents and helping them with advance planning.
I love being with people.
I am a passionate gardener and being in nature and in the outdoors is where I feel most connected in mind, body and spirit.
As a doula, I offer a helping hand to those who are facing the end of their life or the life of a loved one, providing personalised care and support to each individual and their family.
I seek to be a companion on their end of life journey and to be a tender and gentle presence along the way.
I seek also to create a safe and compassionate space where they can feel listened to, have someone to talk to and share a smile, so that they do not feel alone.
I can assist in helping to live life to the full in the present.
Support can take the form of:
- Preparing advance plans, doing practical tasks and providing information and reassurance in preparation for what is to come.
- Acting as a guide to explore individual choices
- Being an advocate for making decisions as the end of life comes near.
Each person’s wishes deserve to be honoured, respected and fulfilled.
We are all different and our needs will be different. Together we can find the unique pathway which hopefully can lead us to a peaceful and dignified death.
