Regressive Death Worker | End of Life Doula | Founder, Dying to Help CIC
I’m Emma, founder of Dying to Help CIC—a Community Interest Company that exists to make the uncomfortable comfortable by helping people talk about death and dying. My work spans funeral ceremonies, end-of-life planning, death education, and now, death doula support.
Before formally stepping into doula work, I spent seven years as a chaplain in both a hospice and care home setting—offering presence, spiritual care, and companionship at the end of life.
I used to think of myself as a progressive death worker, but I’ve come to reframe that. I practise what I now call regressive death work: reviving traditional, community-based ways of dying —where families are involved, rituals are meaningful, and death is no longer hidden.
I believe deeply in accepting mortality, embracing life, and empowering people to face death with honesty, dignity, and agency.
I am a Christian and an ordained minister and my faith is important to me. It is also very personal. I work with people of all faiths and none.
