As end of life doulas we will encounter individuals who are experiencing anxiety and low mood as a result of their situation – their terminal diagnosis or the pressure of caring responsibilities, and anticipatory grief. We will also be in contact with people who have clinical mental health diagnoses requiring support from mental health services. Whilst we are not mental health professionals ourselves, this session will equip doulas with the skills to be better able to identify when a person needs mental health support, how to signpost to appropriate services, and how to maintain self-care and boundaries in the process.
