More about me

I registered as a nurse in 2018 and worked in the in-patient unit of a hospice.  This work set me on the path to becoming an End of Life Doula.  Hospice work is varied and provides care for people needing symptom control for short stays and for those staying until the end of life. Quality of life is what matters.  I witnessed first-hand how essential excellent care and support is for patients and loved ones at this time.

In 2015 my father died unexpectedly and as a family we had not discussed death in much detail.  My passion is to support families caring for a loved one at the end of life and to facilitate conversations about death and dying. This allows the person dying to express their wishes and choices. In knowing these wishes the family can take comfort in honouring those for their loved one.  These conversations are challenging, but by having them, it gives people the chance to live the best life they want, right to the end. It also helps comfort the family in the bereavement process.

As end of life doulas we can support you in many ways, practically and emotionally including facilitating discussions around advance care plans, co-ordinating appointments, running everyday errands and much more
